Crank case ventilation.

What please would the assembled wisdom recommend for crank case ventilation on an otherwise standard 4.6 Thor in a P38?
It might have missed an oil change or two in its life which means the crap catcher in the rocker vent turned into a plug.
I'm not loving the idea of refitting the standard plastic plug thing not least because one has gone missing.
I'm thinking my options are:
Full old school, vent to atmosphere and keep my inlet manifold nice and clean.
Flame traps a-la Rover P6.
Go full catch can.
Other.
Recommendations most appreciated.
