Hi Everybody,
My name is Robert and I am living east of Munich close to the Alp.
If got myself a 1984 ONE TEN 3.5 V8 from a previous owner that gave up his restoration project. I also own another 1978 109 station wagon (2.25 ltd petrol) that is at the final stage of a nut and bolt restoration. So I thought ‚this might be my next project‘ and the V8 could be my daily driver. Meanwhile I’ve already learned some lessons on the V8 in my car having some issues. It started off with some rough running, occasionally, worse when engine is cold, not fully gone when warm. I had the CD175 carburetors checked and paralleled and ended up with smother engine sound but occasional misfires. Replacing the distributor removed the misfires. And now that I am finally at the verge of actually getting to drive the car, we discovered exhaust gas in the coolant fluid and quite hard coolant hoses when the engine is warm and running. So now I am up for removing heads to check the gaskets. From versions sources, I hear about the cracks behind the liners being a known problem. So I thought teaming up with other owners of such engines might bribe me a broader base for future decisions.
I’ll try to have some precise descriptions and requests posted, once I found the right place in this forum.
Kind regards,
Robert
