I trying to find myself a Holley as I can't afford a webber. I know I probably need only the 390 or 450 on my current 3.5 ( later 3.9 ) but there seems to be a myraid of different numbers associated with them. I don't need auto choke or anything like that and was wondering whether anyone had any specific recommendations of Holley.
Thanks

Just ask / look for a 390 Holley. Check it has the metering plate with replaceable jets fitted, as stock they don't (or didn't used to) come with them.

No worries. Should've said, the 2 model nos are 4150 and 4160, these come in different cfm's. 4160 has a non-adjustable secondary plate, 4150 has a proper metering block, but 4160 can be converted to 4150 anyway. I think all 390s are vacuum secondary but someone else will correct that if wrong. Basically, all the shops and second-hand ads just call 'em 390s.

There is actually a mechanical secondary double pumper version of 390 cfm carb, but you are very unlikely to come across a used one.

See http://www.holley.com/HiOctn/ProdLine/P ... 507-1.html

Holley #8007 390 cfm are all 4160 type carbs with metering plate on secondary side.

Sean,

White Performance (ebay shop whiteperformance1) are selling brand new Holley 4160's for $213US. Factor in delivery, import tax and Vat and you might get one for around £200ish. It'll need re-jetting but then what doesn't??

Cheers,

Ian
