should i connect one to +ve as before, and not connect the other or should it be connected to the ignition?

it dosn,t help that it came from a Mk1 sierra and is going in a Mk11,so the looms are different :?

connect both main cables into your loom or onto your battery/starter. You can buy a Lucas connector so its easy to do.
