Oil pressure / thread size q's.

Just a couple of quick questions.

1) What's the max pressure my oil pump is likely to give? I've just found a pressure gauge in the garage, and it goes up to 60psi / 4.1 bar.
Is this a good scale to use for Rover V8 oil pressure (dizzy driven pump, not crank).
Also it would be handy to know so that I can get a pipe to the gauge that isn't too heavy (e.g 200bar!) but that won't burst either.

2) What thread is the pressure light switch? I'll need a T-piece so that I can have the oil light (and a loud buzzer I'm gonna fit), as well as the gauge.

Cheers
Tom.

60psi should be enough even if you have a high pressure spring in.

60? Mine goes up to 80 when cold (OK so I try to avoid doing that ). In fact it does it when the engine's warmish as well!

Did bleed the gauge too, not that it makes much difference (the 'water temp' section is actually sump temp):

:!:

A little too high for comfort? The engine seems fine (great in fact, sweet lump) and doesn't seem to have suffered from it....

Lewis you'r IS high!!
But mine's nothing fancy AFAIK. Just a standard spring that was in the pump before, and the gears are old too, but there was so little scoring that I didn't bother replacing them. The base was resurfaced though to remove round scorings.
It's not a high-revver any way so I don't need a massive oil pressure. Worst case scenario the gauge breaks. No big deal as I didn't even know I had it before!

Any idea on the thread size?

Thread on the pump cover is 1/2unf.
