Does it help to say 'depends'. You need to decide whether you want to move stock EFI over, or want to go to something that it a bit more robust and can handle any mods you make to the engine.

Loom, ECU, airflow meter, inlet manifold complete with injectors and plenum, relays, basically everything attached to the separate injection loom. If you have a search you will get more detailed info as it has been covered a few times.
Oh and if it isn't an injected engine your putting this lot onto you will need to cut slots in the top of the inlet ports to clear the injector spray. Again more detailed info can be found with a search.

But I 'personally' wouldn't use the stock ECU and airflow meter on a safari racer. But I understand that many people are less comfortable with fitting their own EFI.

Yes. We are just starting to come on stream with the Surface mount version of MS, which is much more suitable for off road use.

I decided to go megasquirt for my engine project some time ago.... I would think the extra version is probably the best way to go in the UK (I will be changing over when I actually get to fit it) as you are closer to the suport and suply.
It looks a good option, especially at the price.

Depends how you do MS re the value.
If you get someone to build it and want wasted spark ignition and wideband then its price isn't so attractive. If you build it yourself then yes it's as cheap as you will get by a good bit. If you want the above but cant do it yourself then VEMS is definitely worth a look.

thanks yes i think that i should be able to build it, i guess that you just need to assemble it,i have built a few pc's plus fixed a few xbox's in my time

its nothing like building a PC as those parts just plug together, a pc is sub assemblies that make one big one. You have to solder the individual components onto the board with MS. Not that it is hugely difficult and if you get a decent kit all the components are labeled

yep well still sounds ok to me (not scared yet)

If you do go that route and build it yourself you will need a "stim" to test it as you go, I have one from my build which I can post to you if you PM me when you have the kit.
The insrtuctions are very good and the silk screen on the PCB is accurate which makes life alot easier.
I would a buy a compleet kit from one source though, I went the route of buying the board and some bits off the website (B&G) then the components from Digikey off the link, net result, it all came in five seperate parcels, because some components were out of stock when I placed my order and they sent them when they came in, not a big problem in the US but at $25 a time for P&P cost me an extra $100 plus Duty and Vat!
