This may be a silly question but can someone tell me where the oil pressure sender is usually located on a 4.6 Rover with intermediate timing cover? I can find the oil pressure switch above the oil filter housing and thought about using that port but the sender supplied with my Autometer gauges is too large to fit. A bit like me really!
Also, I'm using an Eddy intake manifold and wondered if the cast housing where the water outlet attaches would be a good position for the water temp sender? I could drill (carefully) and tap for 1/4"NPT in the diamond shaped flat which seems to be the highest point in the system. I was going to do this for a "burp" valve anyway.
Any ideas would be appreciated.[/u]

I don't think there were any front covers with two ports, one for pressure switch and one for gauge. Most people put in a 'T' piece somewhere.
But I just looked at some pictures of my GEMS timing cover, and that does seem to have two ports!!!

As Chris says, some gems covers have two ports and some have just one.

You state you are using and intermediate cover (Not normally on a 4.6 in the UK anyway but may be different in Australia) and these covers only have one port.

You will need to get an adapter to convert the thread in the cover to the 1/8"NPT sender you got with the gauge. Sorry but I can't remember the thread size in the intermediate type cover but I have done this sucessfully.

I believe that the Eddy manifold already has a threaded hole near the front which is tapped for the standard temp sensor.

I don't think I used the top sensor in the end, because I put the switch and sensor in the T piece.
