Greetings gentlemen,

We're trying to identify a v8 engine that was purchased this week,
The number isn't listed in the current list in the stickys at the beginning of this section.

From the stampings we've got a Comp ratio of 8.13 and an engine number of 34127079F, Anyone able to shed some light on this matter, i.e. where or what it came from.

A spanner in the works if the latter addition of a flapper EFI system.

Looks like a Range Rrover (1970-83) originally fitted with carbs. Have a look here....

Cheers, that's the same list we have on this site, the confusion lies between the 341***** No. and the compression ratio not matching.

I think we'll end up rebuilding and sticking some higher comp. pistons in anyway.

It probably is a RR engine but with a different suffix. The numbers that I have provided aren't complete but are the most common ones that I could find. It could be military spec for example. The idea is people are supposed to confirm what they have and get added but it rarely happens that way. Either way its no big deal as you have a good idea of the age range so any parts in that range will fit. By all means use higher comp pistons, if its a car then I would go for 9.75:1 pistons.
