AFR METER

Hi all readers,
Been thinking ( a dangerous act ... I know ) about fitting a AFR meter.
I don`t want a permanent fit meter more of a portable job in the sense making the oxygen sensor a permanent fit and the remaining electrical system in its own box so I can hook up to it when required. I want to find the best settings on timing / carb. e.t.c.
Point is assuming this a workable idea where best to fit the oxygen sensor, inlet manifold or normal fit in exhaust?
I have no ECU or any kind of engine management system on the car.
Polite suggestions or ideas please.
Many thanks ... Mike

in short put it as close to the manifold/collector as you can. So long as the sensor has a heater in it then it isn't critical though.
