Turbo remanufacture/machining

Can anyone recomend a turbo remanufacture/machine shop in the midlands/or failing that further afield?
Looking to get my centrifugal supercharger housing machined/balanced for a new compressor wheel.

In no particular order, and no region.
Owens turbo developments
Turbo Dynamics
CR Turbos
Turbo technics
Would be some of the bigger names about.
The volute machining should be fairly easy. Not 100% sure on balancing the impeller, as all of those companies will be balancing a complete turbine wheel, shaft and impeller as a single unit. So whether their equipment can tackle a wheel on it's own is another matter.

Ok thanks i'll have a ring around.
I've spoken to Turbo Technics and when I mention 'supercharger' they just say we only do turbos, when I try and explain that the compressor side of a centrifugal supercharger is the same as a turbo they just said they only do turbos - think i should try and get past the sales guy and speak to technical.
Yes i've been thinking about balancing, i've spoken to vibration free and if the turbo reman place can't do it I think i'll be able to get it balanced with them.

What compressor wheel did you get in the end ?
A smaller company might be more willing to assist, or as you say, just a case of getting to speak to the right person.
Maybe just say you have an impeller than needs balanced.
Although it would be interesting to see what vibration free can do. Balancing as a complete unit or shaft might be a better option. Honestly no idea what way they are balanced from the factory.
But the main shaft on mine had no signs of work whatsoever, so I assume this is a machined part and is left that way. But the impeller did have black felt tip alignment marks to this shaft. Which when I put it back together...are no longer aligned lol I'm spinning mine way faster than I should and it's still fine though.
So I think the impeller is balanced as a single piece and that's it.

I haven't got one yet, looking at a Garratt GT4708 compressor wheel which has the right inducer and exducer dimensions. The shaft hole is smaller so could be opened out to match my shaft and I think the height is in the ball park. I have got the bearings though, i'll follow up in my other thread.
My compressor showed no signes of being balanced. vibration free said that with turbo's even undoing the nut throws out the balance! The max speed of my procharger is supposed to be 80k which is higher than most american centrifugals which are more like 50 to 60k (Rotrex rate them higher) - I think most Turbos would be over 120k upto 220k for the smaller ones so that would make the balancing more critical.

Balancing is very critical...it's not like 60k is slow lol
But rpm is largely dictated by compressor diameter. There will be limits to tip velocity before things will go supersonic and maybe explode lol
Those big caterpillar garrett turbos are still sitting about, I'll grab one over the weekend and get some measurements. There are 2 sizes of compressor

This is the impeller.
Approx 80mm inducer, 121mm exducer and 35mm tall. Didnt undo the centre nut or try and dismantle. There are other units, this is the largest of them though. No idea how it compares to what you are looking at.

Shagged ? It's brand new, just been lying outside for a while.

I was going on the fact the backplate is rusty - wouldn't the bearings be rusty too?

Might be some water in there....but it still spins freely. Dont know why it's rusty looking like that though, it's aluminium
As for practicalities of using it for something....I'd say they weigh around 25-30kgs each. They're bloody heavy !
Turbine housings are huge.

Thank you for looking, that looks close but I think the exducer dia is a litle large.
My current (damaged) comp wheel has:
70mm inducer
108mm exducer
44mm height (not including nut)
I can (and want to) go bigger with inducer upto 80mm but I think exducer and height are maximums. Also the bore is 0.5" so would have to be smaller than this.
Do you know the dims of the other comp wheels?
