last time i was here was 2007 and ive finally got back to v8,s after a few years messing with bike engined cars and big boost 4 cyl turbo builds .

im putting together a 1uzfe v8 with a supra box and am going to use a holset vgt turb from a dodge ram . ive been using this on a saab 2.0 engine for the last year or so and have made 480whp at 1.7 bar but the engine just wasnt big enough to drive the turbo hard enough at low revs to take advantage of the vgt whereas the v8 should have plenty of puff to get the thing spooling pretty much from idle .

size wise the wheels are pretty much hx40 sized and the comp is good for 550hp .the pulley system replaces the servo drive and on the left is a vac fed actuator that pulls the vane wide open in cruise then shuts as you open the throttle getting turbo spooling tehn the right hand actuator which is boost fed starts pushing the vane open as boost rises to whatever position you set it to . the a/r goes from 0.3 closed to 2.0 fully open and even at 1.9 bar boost and back pressure where within a couple of psi with the vane wide open .

with the lexus being fairly high comp my theory is that i could run a decent amount of boost if i let the vane open completley to keep back pressure down .

the turbo will sit in front of the engine as its a spaceframe ,in fact the same spaceframe that had a serp 3.9 in when i was last on here 5 years ago

i run an ext gate mainly as a safety valve and it doesnt seem to open much until the vane is at it open position as the vane to some degree controls boost as it opens .
