Ok thanks, i run it only on lpg should i give is some more clearance then ???
I have placed the chain and wheels back with crankshaft at 12 a clock and the nr one piston at TDC i placed the camshaft in with the marking at 6 a clock.
Then fitted the cain to the gears and placed everything back, i turned the engine 2 turns by hand nothing wrong, and used the starter motor and everything still ok. I then did a compression test and this was ok.
So there is no way it is wrong now ???

Tappet preload is the space between the circlips and the top of the tappet.
However the circlips has a lot off space in his groove.
So is the dimension i need between with the circlips at the top off his groove ? Ore at the bottom off the groove ????
Circlip at the top of it's groove. What ever you are measuring it with should be a snug/sliding fit between the circlip and the plunger in the follower. I use a bit of bent wire as a gauge which I hammer to say 30-40 thou thick.

Ok thanks, got a mail from rpi chris crane and he told me te same,
I will give it another go then.

Today i tested the engine, and it won't fire up
I played a bit with the distributor nothing.
The spark plugs work i checked one.
Also i replaced the delco position because it is possible to get it 180 degrees wrong.
Still nothing.
I am only starting on lpg because the engine has run on lpg the last years so i don't think the holley will work. I tried with a bitt of fuel in the holley and still nothing.
I am thinking iff the tappet pre load is wrong will this affect starting this much ?
So any ideas anyone ??

Now it startes just great
However if it idles it is a bit shaking, don't know if it comes from the engine ore the torque convertor.
Perhaps this is "normal" with the crower camshaft ?
I cant drive it on the road, a bit more work to do.
