It could have been sold as an assembled engine but the rods were never intended for it and it was never rotated. One person probably prepped the block and another person assembled the crank/rod combo.
Poor workmanship either way. Turning the rotating assembly round on a stroked motor is 101 of engine building :roll:

it does sound eerily like RPI are trying to flip off an overseas customer, hoping he might just sort it themselves and they won't have to answer for anything.

I find it hard to believe they don't understand from that piccie that the rod bolt is nigh on hitting the block and that it will all grow a bit at 5000rpm and destroy the lot.
