I have a v8 developments H404 kit in my Griff. The car weighs in at about 1000kg, so is pretty light.
The engine revs freely to 6k. It would go more, but the limiter kicks in there and until I get roller rockers I'm not going to increase it.
Besides, there's little point as peak power is at 5k5 - the heads don't flow that well all things considered. (I should really try my car with super unleaded - it might slow the torque drop-off a bit) A smaller capacity engine with my heads might make peak power a bit higher in the rev range.
I have seen a 5 litre Rover make just shy of 400bhp and rev to 7800. The spec was epic. It's possible but expensive...
