If I were building this engine I would go,
standard crank (3.9 journals on the mains)
cross bolted and a thick ally plate across the bottom to keep it all together
set of rods like these http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/8-Carril ... enameZWDVW
get the big ends machined to fit.
find some chevy 327 hyperutetic flat top pistons of the right deck height to fit and deck the block if necessary. run about 11.5 compression
chevy mechanical roller cam of about 255 deg at .05 lift and lift to match the head flow.
comp cams roller lifters.
real steel heads.
isky tool room valve springs.
mopar roller rockers on rover/ mopar shaft and rover pedistals.
duplex timing chain
throttle bodies.
and be prepared to replace the crank and springs fairley often.
It would give you peak power at about 6500 to 6800 and rev out to 7500 in gears should still be just drivable on the road.
but it won't be easy to build as there is alot of custom machine work.
or buy a 5.3 ls1 and a spare.. or three lexus gs400s off autotrader and have three sets of big breaks spare!
best of luck
Mike
