Anyway the way he got around this by lapping the flywheel onto the crank using firstly fine valve lapping compound and finishing with Brasso, he needed to start with a good match on the tapers but after that he did away with the woodruff key all together and relied on the fit of the parts and a long spanner on the flywheel nut. might work on the rover ballancer :?

nice idea if the balancer was a taper/interferance fit, but its not, its a light slide fit o the crank, and it also stops the chain pulley from fretting against the key by nipping it against the crank when the big bolt is done up

Thought it might be an alternative for getting an intermediate damper onto my short keywayed/shortnose crank. Not a job for me black n decker - too much potential for complete f up !

Back to a grinder on the keyway it is then :wink:

LS1's have no keyways.

I pinned mine, and it is almost required for blower usage. Very easy to do with the right tools. I used a 1/4 drill bit, 2 holes 180deg apart.
