just a little update.

I never bothered with balancing the flywheel in the end. After speaking to a few people it was considered unecessary.

So the car is back in 1 piece with the old John Eales organic plate back in and a new spigot and release bearing. The diff was picked up from John Read at readman racing who rebuilt it with 3.08 gears i supplied.

I drove the car 265 miles on its first outing on Sunday. It took me 4 hours with leasurely cruising on the motorways at 3000 rpm in 5th which saw 90 mph on the tomtom. The engine still needs a tweak and the wideband was showing a full 1 point richer than desired most of the time. So i wasnt too dissapointed with 23 mpg considering.

The acceleration does feel a touch numbed but this may just be an illusion due to being in the gears that little longer to higher speeds.

The true test will be at York Easter Sunday when i will spend the day testing the car without gas and compare to my previous best.

Just a little update.

I am not sure much can be read into the latest findings but make of this as you will.

York was VERY cold Easter weekend and there was also a bad crosswind.

I ran a few runs NA and the best was 12.72 @ 111.1, 1/8th 8.28 @ 85.55 with a 60 foot of 1.98

This compares to a much warmer day last Summer with 12.41 @ 111, 18th 7.98 @ 90 with a 60 foot of 1.85.

I think any difference is mainly down to weather and conditions and acceleration due to the diff ratio is marginal. It maybe shows up in the first 1/8th but i make a little back in the 2nd 1/8th possibly down to the fact i no longer need the change to 4th gear.

The change is down to the 60ft mostly.

Roughly every 0.1s you save on the 60ft will net you 0.2 at the top end.

Obviously that's not set in stone, but it's usually pretty damn accurate and almost exactly reflects yours

Totally agree.
I will obviously get quicker as the weather and tracks get better. May have a few more NA bhp to play with next time too. See if my terminal increases although i am getting close to the red line in 3rd already
