If you use the latest serp front cover you will need the different sump however if you use the interim 3.9 front cover it uses a normal sump and pick up pipe and would bolt straght on. Thats the one i've used.

depending on patience and fab skills, you could make your own headers. Custom Chrome (the cherry bomb people) sell a header kit that gets you a selection of bends to make something up.
Certainly not quick or cheap - but depends on what floats your boat.

Didnt the car start life as 4WD?
Is it possible to retain the 4wd system if you use a range rover gearbox + transfer case?

That wouldnt work, not with the RR stuff as its all far too big. The engine would also have to go about good bit further back. One of the members on here looked into fitting a diff to the bottom of a rover but found it wasnt a good option because of the block design.

as above, big NO NO!
my car started out as a 1.6 front wheel drive only. i did consider fitting the running gear from a 4x4 and make an adaptor ring to mate the v8 with the subaru box. but it would mean the engine sitting well out infront af the front axle. see the pics on my old page
link is on page 1 of this thread just now my choice of final drive is just the subarus rear axle setup. i may need to change or upgrade this later if it cant handle a standard ish 3.5 but thats a different story.
plus rwd is mutch better, no power lost thru the tranny, and more fun in the corners - steer from the rear, if you know what i mean

Never seen any fine roads in Fife - condition of them is shocking, plus the road calming measures in the villages is bizarre.

Just quick note about the serp timng cover or more specifically the oil pump. Whilst cranking my engine over last night (it turns over at about 190rpm) the oil pressure guage was up halfway, just on cranking! i'm guessing thats about 40psi and other than lubing it up with some heavy gear oil when i put it together i did nothing to help it prime up so so far very good!
