Gearbox for Ford 302 windsor?

Post by craigblack85 »

As above . trying to find a suitable g'box for the v8. i know the cosworth/borg warner t5 fits. i think the ford mt-75 would be able to handle the power but could i get a bell housing to fit? What about autos? Any of the old ford boxes would fit c3/c4, not very common in britain. so would the A4LD gearbox fit? would really prefer auto. thanks for any help you can give.

There's plenty of C4's about, try a 'wanted' ad on the NSRA, Rod & Classic Mart, and Eurodragster,

I'm using the MT75 on my 302 but it is a lot of work and not worth the effort unless you want 4 wheel drive IMO.
You will need an adaptor plate and one off flywheel, I've made an adaptor plate and will happily share the drawings.

The flywheel is a lot more work and mine is still not finished

One of the few perks of my job is access to all the equipment in the workshop including a couple of CNC milling machines, come to think of it that is the only perk !
