I realize this may be an obscure question, but, what is the TOOTH count on the input shaft gear? Not the spline count, the tooth count. Any way of knowing?

24 teeth on a Cossie and the Tremec T5 which Allan has is also 24 teeth.

I think you've hit something I did not think about. The gearbox you have is the US spec version of the T5 and (I think) has a shorter input shaft than the UK spec Cossie T5. If so, the bellhousing offered on your side may be too deep to use with your T5.

That puts Dimension B (on the chart) around 182.6mm. That's the standard Ford V8 length. I don't know how much you want to spend but IF you could locate in the US a Buick 215 bellhousing AND a Ford adapter plate (they are available) you might save a few coins ...

Measuring from the face of the transmission to the tip of the input shaft, what is that length (in inches).

This is quite interesting. Did the engine last? With that much stroke the piston is pretty far down in the hole. What heads did you use? Can you give some more details of this engine?

When you refer to the "Buick Riviera" crank, are you talking about the 3.85" stroke crank out of the Buick 350 V8? If so, how did you fit that into a Rover block? Or, did you fit that into the P76 block?

If the car was a Monaro, it probably already has a Chevy bolt pattern bellhousing. The Monaro became, I believe, the Pontiac GTO when it reached the USA with a LS Chevy motor.

The bellhousing for the P76 V8 looks like a close match for the Ford Type 9. It's nearly 8" deep.

In the case of Borg Warner Single Rail and Ford Type 9 gearboxes, do these transmissions have the same bellhousing to case bolt pattern? I guess this is mostly for the Brits and Aussies.
