Didn't manage to find a new timing cover housing, but have seen an older thread stating that dressing it up should be OK. Everything back together now with new gears, and the good news is, there's no rattle from start up and I have instant pressure. The bad news is, from cold, it only gets up to 1 b...

one I have is pretty scored up the other I have has a few marks but isnt bad but the water connection on the back of the pump is pretty corroded so you probably dont want it. I do have a pretty good RR 4x4 one but you would need to change your pump and pulleys. Thanks for looking, I'll keep them in...

Well here are a few pictures of the offending parts, I think it's fair to say they are worn. http://img.photobox.co.uk/116737614446e19358e8c5b5a0fcf8183cc223503c7012f895555feb.jpg http://snap31.photobox.co.uk/6540950695336b7c4a55febf984e62c4b38ed3184e16450f9ea3a3ba.jpg http://snap31.photobox.co.uk/9...

This afternoon I have removed the oil pump gears, and oh dear  they are very scored, i'll get some pictures later on. The pump base housing off to my remote filter is also scored but I should be able to get this dressed up. The front housing will also need replacing, looks like it's been sand...

Had the car booked into the garage on Wednesday for a tune up, but after a discussion with the mechanic we both agreed it was a waste of time until I've got the oil pressure problem sorted. Left the car with them so they could have a look to see if they could see anything wrong. They checked the oil...

You need to find what the problem is and fix it not go looking for some super duper high volume pump that still wont work because a 2p gasket is broken. The priming stick works better because it is spinning at much higher rpm than the pump would at idle or on the starter. This tends to bypass eithe...

Right, this morning having slept on this I tried the following. Before even turning the engine, I again disconnected the input pipe on my remote filter, removed the distributor and turned the oil pump drive with my home made priming tool. Within seconds of the drill turning the pump I had oil coming...

This afternoon I removed the input hose to my remote filter housing and poured some oill down the pipe. Removed the distributor and gave the pump a turn by hand using a home made priming tool. As soon as i did this oil came back out of the input pipe to the filter housing. I put the pipe back on and...

A further update from tonights efforts. Bought a new filter from the main stealers and some fresh 20/50 oil. Changed these again and still nothing. What I do know for sure is that there is no oil being picked up as the filter, after running the car for a minute or so, still hasn't filled with oil, i...

OK an update from tonight. The oil filter is mounted at about the same level of the water pump so I removed the bracket and lowered, started the engine, let it run for a while and no difference. With the oil filter back where it should be I removed the pressure relief valve from the cover (it's a Mo...

follow the oil lines back to the engine front cover. They will either screw into a sandwich plate instead of where a filter would go or they will go into a proper cast pump bottom. If it looks like a sandwich plate, above that is the pump bottom and on that is a large hex plug, behind that is the v...

The pressure relief valve is sounding favourite at the moment, I have previously changed the oil and filter but no joy. Next question may sound really stupid, but please bear with me I'm new to V8 engines, where is the pressure relief valve? I've checked my trusty Haynes manual this evening, which d...

Another Oil Pressure Question
Hi All, I'm new to this forum and so pleased that I have found it, I need some V8 help. I have recently bought a kit car with a Rover V8 3.5 engine fitted and I'm not sure if the oil pressure is OK. When I start the vehicle from cold the oil pressure gauge doesn't really move at all for several minu...
