Best head bolts and gaskets
What is the best quality composite head gasket and bolt type for a 3.5 Rover v8? Should I replace the bolts with standard early ones again or use the later stretch bolts? Or even ARP studs? Its only a mildly tuned engine (holley, Hurricane cam, tube headers etc), nothing mad.

Re: 10 bolt head gaskets with 14 bolt heads?
Even on a 3.5 lump I would not fit the outer bolts (well not torque them up), they just put a side load on the heads which causes the head gaskets to blow in the valley area of the engine. This is what I have heard. So it sounds like I can go ahead and buy a set use Elring 10 bolt gaskets. Thanks g...

10 bolt head gaskets with 14 bolt heads?
Can I use the later 10 bolt head gaskets on the earlier 14 bolt cylinder heads of my Rover v8, provided I just nip up the omitted outside 4 head bolts?

Rover v8, late to early drive gear swap???
Is it possible to swap the drive gears from a later slot drive type distributor drive gear to an early blade type for P6 engine use? The distributor in question is a secondhand Mallory dual point non-vac advance P/N 2564301. I thought these all came with the short blade type drives as standard to fi...

Unilite or Powerspark?
Has anyone had first hand experience with one of these ? They look like good value, if a little too cheap??? I am pretty sure the Powerspark electric pickup I already have, which I bought from them last Autumn, has failed. Would rather replace with something better instead of just the same again, bu...

Rover v8 BW35 upgrades?
I have a RWYB drag car with a mildly tuned Rover v8 3.5 and a BW35 gearbox. Not being drag racer friendly gearboxes (although there are or have been quick cars which have ran with them), what sort of upgrades are available/possible for these gearboxes? I am thinking along the lines of shift kits, di...

It is so the heads are not handed, and yes, there is no hole in the block at the rear. Chris. So no oil should come to the back hole of the head, or it does but is blocked off? The hole in the back of each head is blocked off by the fact that there is no corresponding holes in the block. I see, so ...

Rover v8 oilways in head
Got a question or three about RV8 oiling. Rover heads have two oilways on the gasket face going to the block, one at the back and one at the front. I know the oil gets to the head at the front oilway and feeds back down the rocker shaft, rockers and pushrods, so why is it there's two oilways in the ...
