One more question!

I'm offered a fully reconditioned GTE SE6 axle which have been driven 5000 miles before it was laid up for 15 years ago.

Is there any differences between the SE5a and SE6 axles? Will the SE6 axle fit my 1973 GTE SE5a without modifications?

I would be surprised if the Jag as brakes would have a specific bracket fited to them to fit the calliper rather than the Scimitar drums,

ring and pinion is one thing but that's not going to get the Dana diff to fit. The bearings and widths could be completely different.

Yes that's right... Ring and pinion seem's to be possible to replace with Dana parts, but still we don't know if the other differential parts are compatible ...

My understanding is that none of the Dana parts will fit a Scimitar axle.


I do not doubt your knowledge but I still don't know what I should believe, many articles on the web claims that at least the ring and pinion are the same in the Jaguar and DANA 44 axles.

I have never heard of a similarity to the Dana44, the axle has been about since just after the was and was fitted to the XK120 and the Mk8 jag, discs were firred to the jags when the axle was fitted to the Mk1 jag and Mk2Jag/Daimler, unfortunatly I would be surprised if the Jag as brakes would have ...

No problems, in Sweden there are lot's of companies selling lsd's for Volvo, this for an example:

Can't find any LSD's on the website but in the catalogue they have it.

Actually it's my own ideas, the bellhousing is a Lakewood steel bellhousing which I've bought from Jegs.
The adapterplate is made by a CNC-machine from my own AutoCad drawing.

The discs is from Volvo S40 which is sharing the same bolt-pattern as Scimitar. Just had to drill the holes from 12.8mm to 13mm, no other modification required.
